For changing the actual Beacon settings, which are things like Beacon transmission speed or transmission power. You must use the mobile app to change the settings. The reason is the settings are stored in the cloud and the Beacon only communicates through Bluetooth. The Phone acts as a bridge between Bluetooth and the Cloud which allows the changing of the settings.

If you wanted to manage a notification remotely, you could set up with Nearby Notifications.
If you wanted to set up Nearby Notifications, once the Beacons are registered with Google you could manage the Beacons remotely. Here is a video about that:

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Ernie,

so the I currently have an asus tinkerbox running android with bluetooth 4.0 and i want to deploy this device on site to remotely monitor beacons this would include updating minor's, checking battery status etc and hopefully batch updating tx speeds etc is this something i can do as it is effectively the same as having a mobile device on site?

Thanks for update to that.

Have you ceased to provide update capabilities via the patch command that used to be documented at this url, but is now missing.
